The Madras Crocodile Bank Trust (MCBT) is one of the key organizations for sea turtle conservation in India; the first beach surveys and conservation programs were started by the MCBT and these spawned other programs in the State of Tamil Nadu and elsewhere in India. Biologists associated with the MCBT conduct field research throughout India, including the remote Andaman and Nicobar Islands. This important work is carried out on very restricted budgets that are barely above survival needs. Recently, work in the very poorly known Andaman and Nicobar Islands has begun, but unfortunately no turtle tags were available. There is an urgent need for tags and tag applicators for this project, and other work throughout India. Anyone who would be willing to help provide turtle tags and applicators, or funds to purchase this equipment, please write to the Madras Crocodile Bank (address below) as soon as possible. Thank you.
