Hook/RRR610
"Hook" (RRR610) is a sub-adult loggerhead turtle that was hooked in the jaw by a fisherman at Cole Park North Pier in Corpus Christi Bay, Texas on 19 May 2007 and rehabilitated by the Animal Rehabilitation Keep (ARK) program at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute (UTMSI) in Port Aransas. "Hook" was outfitted with a Sirtrack KiwiSat 202 satellite transmitter on 18 July 2007 by the TAMUG STFERL prior to its release into the Gulf of Mexico off the Mustang Island beach, near Port Aransas. His/her satellite tagging and release was filmed by a news crew from KIII TV Channel 3 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Video clips of Hook's release can be viewed at www.kiiitv.com under "Goodbye Hook" and "Loggerhead to Tell her Story". RRR610 was named "Hook" during his/her rehabiliation at ARK. Special thanks to Tony Amos and ARK for their collaboration in providing this turtle for tracking.
