Not that I have embarrassed myself... it's time to share what was probably the highlight of the entire symposium.
Brendan Godley was crowned king of the symposium at the live auction. To celebrate he entertained the crowd with a rendition of Ruby by Kenny Rogers.

It was actually the other way round. For the record, I am posting my own embarrassing pictures to 1) beat everyone else to it, and 2) free me up to post all of the embarrassing pictures I have of everyone else :)
So, for those that missed the auction at the 27th Sea Turtle Symposium, here are the gory details. After 17 years without a proper haircut my hair was auctioned off. Sorry, I shrunk the movie so it is not such a large download. Look for close ups in the Image Library soon. I'm sure there will be plenty of them :)

The hair is being donated to Locks of Love and I hope anyone else out there with long hair will consider doing the same. It also raised $620 for student and international travel for the symposium.
I am not exactly sure how the shaving thing happened. After my hair was cut I offered to shave my head if another $500 could be raised. Kartik somehow got in to the mix (or perhaps he started it). In any case, my understanding is that there wasn't enough money raised for me to shave my head, but somehow it was enough for Kartik and I to shave our beards.
Chubby cheeks alert! Shaving my beard takes about 10 years off.
