The beach you live on or love to visit has been coming and going for millions of years. Pretending that you can stop it to protect YOUR favorite spot is folly and extremely selfish. In the long run you cannot stop it, you will lose and will have wasted a lot of money in the process. In the short run you pass the problem to the next community down the beach.
When the beaches move we need to learn to move with them, not against them.
