Timber forgot something

Sara has now taken the lead in the race to the south. Timber appears to have stopped or doubled-back a bit. Perhaps she found a spot with some tasty treats?

There haven't been any good quality locations from Shellby for a couple of days, but a look at her zoom map indicates she is making progress and gaining on Timber and Sara. Fluffy is still lolligagging about off the coast of northern North Carolina. It's pretty chilly in the DC area, hopefully she will start her move soon!

I'm on a road to...

The four loggerhead turtles that were satellite tagged on Bald Head Island, North Carolina and are being tracked by the MTRG et al are on the move!

One turtle, Timber, actually started a serious southward move over a week ago from where she had been hanging out off-shore of Deleware. For those keeping score at home, Sara and Timber are neck and neck and have been swapping the pole position for the last couple of days. Shellby got a late start and is lagging behind. Fluffy doesn't appear to be bothered by the recent cold weather and hasn't started a serious move, but seems like she may be starting to lean a little south.

How far south will they go before stopping? Are they all going to the same place? And, if so, who will get there first?

Inquiring minds want to know...

Man Accused of Killing Sea Turtle

Interesting story came across my desk(top) this morning from The Olympian, a Washington state newspaper.

News Story

Not interesting so much because the guy killed a turtle and kept the shell, but because of the location. Apparently he found a green turtle on a beach in Ocean Park, Washington. Pretty amazing when you consider how cold the water is in that area. I would expect Leatherbacks to be about, but not the typically more tropical green turtle.

I wonder how often they turn up in that part of the US?
