This week's sign of the apocalypse...

Making an argument equating sea turtle nest poaching to abortion...

Since sea turtles are a protected species, one can be imprisoned for destroying sea turtle eggs. What does it say about our society when an unborn sea turtle has more legal protection than an unborn child?

I cannot see how you can compare the two. People are not going anywhere.Human babies are being born all over the world every day and encroaching on habitats all over the world, creating more pollution and garbage. Turtles are animals..they go on instinct they cannot just pack up and move if there habitat gets polluted.Lets just focus on one thing here.. the turtles and helping them.

I don't think the person writing the article was trying to argue that turtles shouldn't be protected, I think they were trying to make the point that we need to protect the unborn of our own species as well...

Probably not, but equating the two sets a dangerous, and yes stupid, precedent. For both human children and hatchling sea turtles.
