OK, grep is a unix/linux command line utility that let's you do very powerful searches of file content very quickly. The quote was posted in a comment attached to an article suggesting that it's still best to get your news and information from paper sources as opposed to on the internet. The point of the quote being, you can't search the text of a book or newspaper (unless it's in electronic format of course :).
